Mara Ruzicka-Butz

Special Education Teacher

Mara Ruzicka-Butz earned her Master’s degree in Instructional Leadership from Robert Morris University, where she also earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education. While at Robert Morris University, which is just outside of Pittsburgh, Mara was part of the University Honors Program and a founding member of the RMU chapter of Strong Women Strong Girls, a college mentorship program for elementary aged girls.

Mara has many years of experience working with children with and without special needs, as a ski instructor, summer camp counselor, and long-term substitute teacher. She comes to COS after splitting the 2019-2020 school year as a 4th grade learning support teacher, a 5-8 Life Skills teacher, and a 5th grade Emotional Support Teacher.

Mara is looking forward to learning more about Waldorf education and is excited to be a part of the Circle of Seasons community. When not in school, she can be found painting, attempting to keep her numerous houseplants alive, and trying every new outdoor activity she can.
