

Chris Shumate
Sixth Grade Class Teacher

Chris Shumate has been teaching high school English for nine years and brings a deep passion for literature, language, and student growth to the classroom. Originally from Virginia, Chris has called the Lehigh Valley home for the past 15 years. He graduated with a Masters in Secondary Education from Kutztown University in 2016. Chris was drawn to the Waldorf model after discovering Circle of Seasons and choosing it as the school for his son. Inspired by the school’s values and holistic approach to education, he is excited to be part of a community that nurtures creativity, critical thinking, and connection. Outside of the classroom, Chris enjoys reading and writing, as well as hiking and camping. He is also a huge fan of live music and can often be found at a local concert venue checking out a new band. He lives in the Lehigh Valley with his wife, their two children and 150lb Newfoundland dog.
