Music Teacher
Jeanette Sommons has a BMus in Music Education from Houghton College with dual concentration in Vocal and Instrumental Music. She continued graduate studies in Vocal Performance at the University of Miami. Mrs. Sommons, a lyric coloratura soprano, has enjoyed performing with the Miami Bach Society, traveling abroad to perform in France, Germany, and Austria, and locally with the Pennsylvania Youth Theatre and at MusicFest. She has directed several children’s choruses and adult choirs during her professional career. Making music accessible to all people is one of her greatest passions. She discovered Waldorf education when researching job opportunities at Circle of Seasons. Mrs. Sommons realized her personal philosophies aligned well with Waldorf Education, and she continues to read, go to seminars, and immerse herself in Waldorf education training. In 2021-2022 Mrs. Sommons completed her Waldorf Elementary Music Certification through Sunbridge Institute and enjoys collaborating with other Waldorf Music colleagues. She enjoys meeting children where they are and helping students to grow through discovery, imagination, and story. Outside of the music classroom, Jeanette enjoys knitting, gourmet cooking, and hiking. Her family tries to pick at least one National Park to explore each year.
